You can tell a lot about history from what’s missing. The only way to hide something that happened is to cover it with a bunch of things that never did. These lies leave unnatural mounds on the landscape ripe for truth archeology. One knows by the size of the pile something important must be underneath. No one was held accountable for the destruction of the library of Alexandria. No one asked why they only made one copy of every book. Still, we assume they knew what’s best and went so far as to confiscate every book that came into the city. We play the same games today because people struggle to afford reality.
